Europe is facing a “hot autumn.” In France, Spain, and Italy, general strikes called by the unions against the policies of governments and corporations are scheduled for October 30, November 5, and November 11, respectively. On October 30, an international day of action and strike by dockworkers will be organized. Six unions from the Mediterranean region are calling for it. Dockworkers from over 100 ports around the world have already joined the effort. They are fighting and striking against arms shipments to Israel and the transformation of ports into military bases. They are also fighting for social rights, workplace safety, and higher wages.

A youth rebellion is taking shape worldwide. It is directed not only against individual problems such as the housing crisis and unaffordable rents, dilapidated schools and teacher shortages, unemployment, or rapidly rising inflation. It is an outpouring of outrage against the government’s entire policy of dismantling social rights, fascist tendencies, preparations for war, massive military spending, and environmental destruction—all without any prospects for the future. The complicity of European governments with the Israeli-Zionist Netanyahu regime and its genocide has not been forgotten, and Palestinian flags are a constant feature of the protests.

A highlight was the joint days of struggle in October in France, involving over 2 million schoolchildren, college students, teachers, parents, healthcare and transportation workers, and firefighters. In France, Italy, and elsewhere, the bourgeois state apparatus is responding with brutal violence and provocation and is becoming increasingly fascist. The right to demonstrate is being curtailed as “illegitimate.”

To divide the population, the bourgeois media primarily show images of arson and looting and engage in anti-communist smear campaigns. We criticize criminal or anarchist rioting, condemn police provocations, but also state clearly and unequivocally: Rebellion against the prevailing conditions is justified. Let us encourage it to organize itself better.

In Europe, capitalist governments and monopolies are resorting to ever-more-intense exploitation of people and nature.

But: The masses in Europe no longer want to—and can no longer—live as they have until now; those in power can no longer govern as they have until now.

Open political crises are erupting in more and more countries, such as Germany and France. Ever broader sections of the ruling monopoly capital are relying on fascist parties and governments in their preparations for war and their attacks against the working class, working people, and their organizations—a development that challenges the anti-fascist struggle, which also shapes the current protests.

Revolutionaries in Europe resolutely support the struggle of the working class, the popular movement, and the youth; they coordinate and revolutionize this struggle internationally and offer it an alternative in socialism.

In this situation, ICOR Europe calls for:

Against the intensified exploitation by monopolies and the state. Let us defend democratic rights and freedoms!
Work toward transnational days of struggle and strike on October 30, November 5, and November 11!
Let us increasingly coordinate the struggles across national borders. International workers’ unity is the key! Forward to the workers’ offensive!
We support the Europe-wide youth protest and the Youth Day of Struggle on November 20, 2026.
For strong revolutionary parties and youth organizations, for a strong ICOR!
Rebellion is justified! For a strong socialist youth movement.
Strengthen the revolutionary parties and youth organizations.
Forward to socialism!
